Can I use an alternative basemap in the map view?

Yes, alternative basemaps can be used in the map view if they are available as a WMS or a WFS (Web Map Service or Web Feature Service)

Navigate to the Chemistry Map View (Data View ---> Chemistry Map)

Select the LAYOUT/LAYERS menu 

Here you can select if you wish to use Bing aerial imagery or an Open Street Map basemap. 

To display an alternate basemap or any custom layers of your choice, you will need to create a layout. This can be done by copying any existing layout.  

Select the new layout and then you will see the menu to add in WMS, WFS or KML* 

Select the format you wish to display and add in the URL.

Once you have added the WMS to the Layout, the Layers can then be added to the Map View Display. 

The selected layers will be displayed behind any ESdat data.
